focal point
focusing on education and community for all photographers.
52 Weeks with C.London
Built out of a lack of motivation, 52 Weeks started in 2019 as a simple hashtag on instagram. Year after year, the project has evolved to where it is today - an intentionally written series of weekly photography prompts aimed at bettering us all as photographers. As the prompts are mostly open for interpretation, the project is a good fit for photographers of all levels and disciplines. Like the Photo Class, it also has the benefit of an engaged community of photographers - some who have been along for the ride for the entirety of its existence. Looking for some inspiration in 2024? 52 Weeks with C.London is for you - jump right in!
Photo Class 2024
Join us in 2024 for a free and fun way to learn photography and build community. The Photo Class presented by Focal Point takes a holistic approach to online photography education. With new lessons released weekly, participants are encouraged to take their time in the learning process, and focus in on the topic at hand that week, all while having the flexibility to explore their own photographic interests. In addition to the lessons, the Photo Class has an active and supportive community of teachers, mentors, and peers via its subreddit and discord server. Classes start January 1st, but you can get started right now!
Podcast
The Focal Point podcast is hosted by Chelsea London and David Patton, and invites guests of all areas of photography. Casual by nature, the Focal Point Podcast delves into the topics that photographers want to discuss from the point of view of a peer. Previous episodes have discussed topics such as: ethics of street photography, the business of photography, community over competition, mental blocks, and much more. As Focal Point is inherently a community-driven project, participants of the Photo Class and 52 Weeks join us to tackle any struggles we may face in these projects, and give constructive and actionable feedback to our peers. Have a listen!
