With this assignment, you will…
Capture two images—one landscape/object, one portrait.
Post process both images using whichever processing software you use.
Engage with mentors and peers by seeking feedback.
Post processing in action
In this assignment, you will make two images with the intent of fully processing them. You will then process both images completely and post both with the before and after images.
Instructions
Step One: Capture Two Images
One image can be of any landscape/object—basically any scene sans people and animals. The other image should be a human portrait (sorry, furry friends!)
Step Two: Fully process both images
Try out different techniques we discussed in the unit.
Don’t be afraid to explore and make mistakes! Non-destructive editing is your friend.
Try and identify which tools worked for best to achieve the final image you envisioned.
Step Three: Submit your Images & Reflection
Post your two photos with both the before and after versions and reflect on:
What did you photograph, and why?
What post processing tools did you find most useful?
What challenges did you face while processing?
What kind of feedback would you like—technical, compositional, narrative?
tl;dr: What to Hand In
Your final two images (before and after—4 images total).
A short paragraph or two reflecting on the points above.
We are having regular events on the discord. Check there for the next feedback session and other workshops!
Don’t forget to write in your Learning Journals!
